Do you have dreams? When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Virtually all people on earth have dreams they nurture. Sadly though, not everyone gets to realize those dreams. But it is not like we can really do anything about it. The process of making dreams come true must start and end with the person himself who desires it. After all, you can’t teach people to persevere although you can give them some sort of encouragement in a way. Speaking of people who had managed to make their dreams come true, of all the people I knew, I admire Andreas Roell the most. Andreas Roell is the current Chairman and CEO of the Geary Group – a digital media marketing company that offers high quality digital media marketing services. No one can dispute how successful Andreas Roell is now. Geary Group has come to be recognized as one of the West Coast’s leading independent digital marketing agencies. If you do not know much about it yet, I guess it can\’t be helped. Few average people know about it but I can assure that it is really worth knowing. Geary Group is comprised of three things: It is comprised of three things: the Geary Interactive, the Geary SEO and the Geary PMG. And with these three together, the perfect marketing solutions are sure to be provided that can make any performance drive client happy. Why Bulgarian Residential Property increased

The increase in residential Bulgarian property prices in the recent months has brought a disgusting amount of media coverage of the market these days. You can actually read articles about their property investment in almost all daily and weekly newspapers and magazines. Real estate has become an attractive topic even to government officials, whose public statements have caused even more increased hustle around residential real estate prices.

The Bulgarian property investment market is just another free, unregulated market, where the mechanisms of supply and demand command the movement of prices up- or down. At the same time, their unique property investment market has some specific characteristics all its own, which make it an extremely unique market. Some of these characteristics include: their lack of sufficient information; a reaction lag when it is compared to the other sectors of the economy; non-standard product; lack of a mobility of properties, in addition to, buyers and sellers; and a limited number of transactions that are available in one person s lifetime.

What this means is that the smooth mechanisms of their free market economy would be influenced by all of these factors and should be seriously considered when you are analysing the property market for your investment. Any economics student these days would tell you that prices rise when either supply shrinks or the demand for something increases. What has happened on the Bulgarian real estate market this year in particular is that both supply and demand have grown significantly with demand outweighing supply and therefore leading to higher sales prices.

What is more interesting than this is what has actually caused this demand to grow at such a pace in the first place. The size of the population, their combined disposable income, availability of mortgage credits and government actions can influence demand for residential properties is directly responsible for this.

The population of Bulgaria has been decreasing slowly in recent years, but at the same time the poor economic conditions in the countryside have forced many Bulgarians to move to the bigger cities for in search of cheaper establishments. This has led to an increase in the number of potential buyers of real estate in Sofia and the bigger cities. Thanks to this the real estate market has been its most active in these markets and is expected to continue to be in the short and semi-long term.

The number of people is not a sufficient reason in itself for the increased demand for properties; the disposable income of households is an extremely important factor as well. The steady economic growth of the Bulgarian economy over the past few years has allowed some portions of Bulgarian society to be able to earn and save more money.

Disposable income of Bulgarians is even more enhanced by the availability of mortgage loans where there wasn t any before. Although interest rates are still high at 8.5 to 12.5 per cent a year, many Bulgarians have taken this opportunity to be able to enjoy a new home now rather than wait for the right amount of money to be accumulated in 10 to 15 years. The increased competition between all of the commercial banks will cause even more interest rate drops and stimulate the demand for residential properties in the future.

World’s first double arm transplant undertaken in Munich
February 19, 2022 · Uncategorized · (No comments)

Saturday, August 2, 2008

A 54-year-old German farmer who lost both arms in a farming accident six years ago has become the first patient to receive a complete double arm transplant. The patient, whose name has not been released, underwent the operation at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, part of the Technical University of Munich (Technische Universität München), last week; he is said to be recovering well.

The operation lasted 15 hours and was performed by a team of 40 specialists in Plastic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Orthopedics and Anesthesiology, under the direction of the head of the Plastics and Hand Surgery department, Prof. Hans-Günther Machens, Dr. Christoph Höhnke (Head of Transplants, Senior Physician; Plastics and Hand Surgery) and Prof. Edgar Biemer, the former Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Clinic.

In a press statement released by the clinic, it was revealed that the patient had been thoroughly physically checked and had psychological counselling prior to the surgery to ensure he was mentally stable enough to cope with the procedure. Since completion of the surgery, the patient has been on immuno-suppressant drugs to prevent rejection of the new limbs.

Following the surgery, the press release from the clinic’s press manager, Dr. Tanja Schmidhofer, included the following statement:

The flow of blood was [re-]started in intervals of 20 minutes because the anaesthetists had to make sure that the patient would not suffer from the blood flowing back from the transplanted parts. No significant swelling was seen, nor indeed any ischemia (lack of blood flow to the tissues). This is a testament to the surgeons who established a fully functioning blood flow…the main nerves, the Musculocutaneus, Radial and Ulnar nerves were all attached and sewn together, and finally an external fixator was applied, with pins in the lower and upper arms, avoiding the risk of pressure points and sores. The operation was successfully completed after 15 hours.

Without the immuno-suppressant drugs given to the patient, the risk of there being a Graft-versus-Host Reaction or GvHR, would have been significant due to the upper arm containing a large amount of bone marrow, consisting of ICC’s or Immuno-Competent Cells, which would have triggered a near total rejection of the new limbs. A GvHR is a condition which results in the cells from the transplant attacking the immune system of the body.

Indications from the clinic suggest that the double attachment went well, although it could be up to 2 full years before the patient is able to move the arms.

The donor arms came from an unnamed teenager, who is believed to have died in a car accident.

Monday, October 6, 2008

Stock markets around the world have fallen dramatically today. This is following the ongoing events in the financial world, including the US Government’s $700 billion bail out of the financial sector.

As of 14:48 UTC, the primary UK index, the FTSE 100, dropped in value by 6.50% (323.65 points) to a point even further below the 5000 mark at 4656.60. The Dow Jones, was down 3.76% at 16:08 UTC, a slight increase from earlier today. The Dow Jones currently has a value of 9936.94 points, below the ten thousand mark. The Nasdaq index has fallen by 100.12 points to 1847.27, while the DAX was 6.62% lower than the start of the day as of 16:08 UTC.

The Dow Jones index was one that fared particularly poorly today, as not one of its companies increased its share price. The same is true for the CAC 40 index. The Merval index is another one that fared badly today. It dropped in value by 10.12%, while the affiliated Merval 25 index dropped by nearly as much, 10.03%. One of the worst faring indexes of the day was the Brazilian Bovespa index. It has already fallen by 14.45% today, despite the fact that it is not even half way through the trading day.

    Retractable Hose Reels

February 18, 2022 · Workshop And Engineering Equipment · (No comments)

    By Camille Howe

Spring-driven, retractable hose reels offer the advantage of self-contained automatic retrieval that requires no external power source to operate. Because of this, they can be used in almost any environment, including outdoor locations and remote sites. Retractable hose reels are manufactured with a great deal of specificity in mind in order to make them ideally suited to specialty applications. Choosing a reel is done by analyzing the basic details and steps of your application, along with the diameter, delivery volume, and pressure of your hose, and then selecting a retractable reel that matches the criteria you already have in stock and the process flow you already have in place.

    Performance Retractable Hose Reels

The performance series model is designed to consolidate space in wide variety of different environments. It features heavy duty construction to ensure consistent, reliable performance without incident and has become one of the most popular retractable hose reels in use.

    Heavy Duty Retractable Hose Reel

These spring-driven units feature a larger chassis and frame intended to contain exceptionally long hoses with large diameters. They feature a dual axle support system engineered to increase stability during operation and minimize vibration during use.

    Supreme Duty Retractable Hose Reels

These are the heaviest duty hose reels we carry and feature dual pedestal-style arms support for an extra large chassis. They are intended for outdoor applications in extreme environments where the unit may suffer accidental abuse or inclement weather.

    Dual Purpose Retractable Hose Reel

This model is actually two reels in one and is an excellent space savers in cramped corners. Using two retractable hose reels on a single mount makes hose retrieval faster and more stable. Air hose units and electrical cord units are available.

    Enclosed Retractable Hose Reels

Enclosed reels protect hoses and interior components with a steel casing that keeps out the element. This is a rather aesthetic tool as well, and should be installed in areas where appearance matters a great deal to corporate staff or visiting clients. Enclosed retractable reels are made with a 3 piece casing that is easy to take apart for maintenance and reassemble.

    Aluminum Retractable Hose Reel

These are compact, lightweight retractable reels intended of use with hoses made from stronger materials. (Plastic hoses are not recommended for use with these reels).

    Stainless Steel Retractable Hose Reels

This electro-polished, stainless steel reel is perfect for use in food and chemical plants, salt water environments, and areas where corrosive pollutants in the atmosphere can cause equipment to ruse.

    Retractable Welding Hose Reel

Small and large models exist to provide stable operation and minimal vibration when working with welding hoses. Ask a material handling specialist about which series model best fits your specific welding requirements.

    Side Mount Retractable Hose Reels

These reels mount on the side of the wall with a two-bolt mount that is easy to install, detach, and then mount at a different station. They allow you to access the hose from any position you stand. They are a favored retractable reel for lifting systems, any machine tool, air/water service tools, tool boxes, and vertical support.

High Capacity and Dual High Capacity Retractable Hose Reel

These reels are designed for high volume, low and medium pressure applications that require hoses with exceptional diameter. The box-frame design features cross supports to keep the unit stable at all times. Dual units have two swivel inlets and two outlets for dual hose applications.

    Vacuum Retractable Hose Reels

These reels power pneumatic tools and clean the air at the same time with a self-enclosed, self-cleaning system. The vacuum in this unit removes fumes and industrial by-products during operation.

Some of these units can be further customized if necessary. This is done on a case by case basis upon request of the client. Talk to your manufacturer s distributor about these options.

At least 53 killed, over 90 injured in Shanghai apartment fire
    February 17, 2022 · Uncategorized · (No comments)

    Tuesday, November 16, 2010

China’s Xinhua News Agency said Tuesday that at least 53 people were killed in Shanghai during a deadly fire. The blaze, which occurred on Monday at 2:15 p.m. CST (0615 UTC), consumed a 28-story high-rise apartment building in the city’s Jing’an District.

The building was being renovated at the time of the fire, and was home to over 150 families. At least 100 victims have been admitted to area hospitals, although some later died. Most survivors were not seriously injured, but needed treatment for smoke inhalation. Firefighters were still looking for survivors and over 70 were still hospitalized on the morning after the fire.

The fire was the worst in recent Shanghai history and took over 100 fire engines more than four hours to contain. Strong winds blew heavy smoke into the air, hampering rescue efforts by helicopters. The smoke was seen by witnesses around 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) away from the high-rise. The fire was largely extinguished by 6:30 p.m. local time (1000 UTC), allowing fire and rescue officials to enter the building.

The apartment building, built in the late 1990s, was home to mainly retired teachers. Some residents climbed down the scaffolding to escape, while others called for help but were unable to flee the blaze. “I saw at least four or five people hanging onto the scaffolding which covers the building, screaming for help,” said Li Qubo, who was working near the high-rise.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but local residents said fire safety regulations were not strict, and workers often tossed used cigarettes into the building’s hallways. Qiu Jingshu, a 38-year-old worker who was outside the 18th floor when the fire struck, said he saw sparks from welding being done on an adjacent building fly over onto the high-rise. The sparks lit up foam on the scaffolding around the apartment, according to Qiu. “We had tried to put out the blaze, but the fire was so big and spread so quickly that we could barely escape ourselves,” he said. Crews were said to have been installing insulation at the time of the fire, and witnesses saw construction materials on fire before the building was overtaken by flames.

Two nearby buildings were evacuated, and their residents were temporarily sent to local hotels, and a school. Meng Jianzhu, China’s Minister of Public Security, said that an investigation would determine who was responsible for the fire, so they could be punished accordingly. Meng said that a team had been formed under China’s State Council to look into the disaster.

A similar incident occurred in Beijing early last year. In February 2009, the illegal use of fireworks caused a fire that gutted a 34-story building under construction at the time.

Shanghai has a population of about 20 million, housed mainly in high-rise apartments. Many buildings in the city are under construction or being renovated.

A1GP New Zealand speeds its way into record books

A1GP New Zealand speeds its way into record books
    February 17, 2022 · Uncategorized · (No comments)

    Saturday, January 6, 2007

Jonny Reid, co-driver for the A1GP New Zealand team, today made history by driving the fastest over the 48-year-old Auckland Harbour Bridge, New Zealand, legally.

Mr Reid managed to drive the New Zealand’s A1GP car, Black Beauty at speeds over 160km/h seven times over the bridge. The New Zealand police had trouble using their speed radar guns to see how fast Mr Reid was going because of how low Black Beauty is, and the only time the police managed to clock Mr Reid was when he slowed down to 160km/h.

Black Beauty, like all the other A1 Grand Prix cars, is powered by a V8 engine, 3.4 litres and has a top speed of 300km/h. During the record attempt, it managed to get to 160km/h from zero in under three seconds.

The stunt was to promote the upcoming A1GP sixth round at Taupo in a couple of weeks, which Mr Reid will be racing because of his two wins at Indonesia, instead of other co-driver, Matt Halliday.

Mr Reid performed the record on the clipon lanes of the bridge which were closed at Christmas because the lanes were being resurfaced. The lanes will be open this Monday, January 8.

Mr Reid said the surface at the top of the bridge hadn’t been swept so it was quite slippery. “It was mega slippery at the top but we always knew that would be the situation and it was just great to show the public a little bit of what we were about.” However he also said that “It was fully under control.”

Mr Reid said the buzz from doing that, especially with the help from police, was huge. “I absolutely thrived on it. It was a very unique experience which you don’t come across every day. It was mega, it really was.”

Mr Reid assures everyone that the speeds he will be reaching in Taupo will be much, much faster than what he achieved today.

Once Mr Reid had finished crossing the bridge seven times, he finished with a few doughnuts.

Two cars were involved in a nose to tail crash on one of the northbound lanes trying to watch the action.
