In 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria commissioned the very first diamond engagement ring on record for his betrothed, Mary of Burgundy. The ring is presented as a gift by a partner to their prospective spouse when they propose marriage. It is a formal agreement to future marriage.
When it comes to famous engagement rings, there are diamonds, and then there are diamonds, just in Jacqueline Kennedys engagement ring where the diamond and an emerald surrounded by more diamonds. From famous Queen of England, Lady Diana Spencer, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Mia Farrow from Frank Sinatra, to a lot more famous personality around the world. Engagement rings made it statement worldwide.
Over the past decades or so, a phenomenon has begun to emerge in the engagement ring world, whereby couples purposely try to go for the most original and unconventional colors available wedding engagement stones. On November 13, Torontonians will be heading to the polls to vote for their ward’s councillor and for mayor. Among Toronto’s ridings is Beaches—East York (Ward 32). Twelve people have died and twenty more were wounded following the collapse of a wall in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. At the time of the collapse Tuesday, the wall was supporting a shed under which residents were seeking shelter from heavy rain.
“I have been told that a shed of my bungalow collapsed where daily wagers gather every day seeking work,” said police superintendent OP Pal. He is away from his house in Ambikapur, where the incident occurred, taking leave in Uttar Pradesh. Chhattisgarh authorities have promised Rs100 thousand (US$2.22 thousand, £1.39 thousand) to compensate each death, and Rs25 thousand (US$555.18, £346.92) for those injured.
The shed was used as a bus shelter. The victims had been hoping to travel out of town.
Ambikapur mayor Prabodh Minj said the 10-foot (3.05-metre)-tall outer wall &nbdash; built for security &nbdash; had been unmaintained for years. However, he attributes the cause of its collapse to the rainfall.

Different colored lightings or shadow lights can be used for this place. Welcoming guests in your dining area in such a light would be brilliant.
Try keeping the window open for daylight in your kitchen. If you have placed a potted palm or fern in your kitchen a little bit of sunlight would do wonders for your plants. Finally, if at all possible, implement as many windows into your kitchen as possible, because the more windows, the more natural light you let in, which is obviously the best kind of light available.
Kitchen lighting is not just about necessity. It is about comfort, radiance and efficiency. Most likely, you probably want your kitchen to have as bright and cheerful a look as possible, but this just isn’t possible without a good lighting.

Yesterday, Belgian Archbishop Godfried Danneels visited the Catholic University of Leuven to give a lecture on health care and religion, entitled “Care for the body, care for the mind”. Some 120 people, mainly professors at the University Hospitals, but also clerics and students, attended the conference and following piano recital.
In his introduction speech, Dean of Medicine Bernard Himpens reminded the audience how much the art of medicine had changed since the time of Andreas Vesalius, probably the Faculty’s most famous scientist. The Dean stressed the important role of the Hospital’s Biomedical Ethics Committee, but added that religion continues to be important.
“Some people even believe that good ethics must be carried by faith, and any profound ethics should result in faith,” the Dean noted. He asked the question where the evolution of a merely “passive tolerance for the Christian starting points” would lead the health care system.
In his lecture, the Archbishop acknowledged that the technical aspects of health care were probably the most important to achieve results, but that on the other hand, the medical-technical approach by itself could not guarantee the happiness of the patients.
Wikinews asked Professor Martin Hiele, Chairman of the Commission for Medical Ethics, if he felt there was a need for a lecture on the subject of religion and health care. He replied that

Prof. Bernard Spitz, from the University’s Department of Developmental Biology and head of the Hospital’s Obstetrics Department, told Wikinews that
| Religion is important in our profession. Increasingly you see that it becomes more technical, but also that people start looking for differentiation. A lot of people do the same thing technically, but not everyone does it from the same perspective. Also, when in organisation that used to be based on an ideology, this ideology disappears, people become burn-out, asking themselves why it is that they work so hard. |
The lecture was organised by the DeGroof Bank and the Faculty of Medicine. It is the first of three lectures on the subject of religion, spirituality and ethics in health care.

Planning Fun Baby Showers

It’s your turn to plan the baby shower but you want to make it a fun shower that the guests will enjoy. Where do you start?
Let’s get the basics out of the way first:
1. Decide on a location

Face it, that’s fun for the mom-to-be but after 10 or 20 presents have been opened the Oohs and Ahs start to slow down considerably. So how do you incorporate fun into your baby shower?
A great way to get the party rolling is by having a themed baby shower. There are so many fun themes to choose from that will make decorating a baby shower a breeze. If you already know that the baby is a boy or girl, then choosing a theme is a snap. You can have a nautical themed baby shower for a boy decorated in red, white and blue. Carry this theme forward with red, white, and blue snacks and drinks such as a fruit plate with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. For those that can drink, serve white wine and for those that cannot a fun red fruit punch. Bring your guests into the theme by asking them to also wear something red, white or blue. Set up your tables in a round fashion so that everyone can see mom to be when she opens up her gifts. Round tables also encourage interaction between the guest tables which will keep the fun level up.
A relaxing Victorian Tea Party is an afternoon baby shower theme that can be considered on the calm side but still plenty of fun. Ask guests to dress up a bit. Decorate the party with calming pastels. Serve a variety of teas and bakery items such as sugar cookies, cupcakes, pies and other items. Now what woman do you know doesn’t like to have a relaxing afternoon chatting with other women while munching on goodies that she normally wouldn’t eat? Incorporate old fashion baby shower games and give each guest a baby shower favor that will remind them of this day. A great favor would be “Baby is Brewing” teapot favor.
Have you noticed how many baby showers are now attended by both men and women? Men, whether they like it or not are now just as much included in the baby arrival as women are.
